The Breed

I read an article the other day about Muslims trying to build a mosque in lower manhattan. People freaked out! Everyone was screaming in protest, saying allowing a mosque to be built in lower manhattan would be a disgrace to the victims of 9/11.

Wow. This is the hated of our society.

What would all you Christians do if Massachusetts didn't allow you to have churches in Salem anymore. Your ancestors killed people in the name of God there! What about Spain? Greece? Italy?

I know what you would say... "That wasn't us, so why are you punishing us? Why are you wagering a war against Christianity?"

Don't you think Muslims feel the same way?

Christians- "Well Islam is a VIOLENT RELIGION!!"

Really? How many of you have read the quaran? Better yet, HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE READ THE BIBLE!!????

Any radical of any religion is going to ruin it for everyone else. Even Christianity has radicals.

Ever heard of the Westboro baptist church?

And I know the argument, its the same one every time. "Well, those people aren't REAL Christians!"

Well then, Osama bin Ladin wasn't a Real Muslim.

And those people who dress in black and call themselves vampires aren't real Wiccans.

And the argument continues.

Does your bible not state in Matthew 7:3 "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?"

Did Jesus not shun the hypocritical priests from the temple stating that it was God's house and there was no place for hypocrites in that house?

I'm not going to give any scientific arguments disproving your God. I have no need. But you have all missed the point!

The purpose of religion is to give people hope, and if your God gives you hope then so be it! But my hope gives me hope too. And Allah gives hope to the Muslims. And Buddha gives hope to the Buddhists.

The basis of all religions is love. Love one another.

Its the golden rule, something that has been bound into our heads since preschool.

Until we learn life isn't all black and white and then we forget. We forget how to love. We forget how to cry. We forget how to share and forgive and live harmoniously with one another.

Hate is a learned behavior. why teach your child to hate? Hate breeds more hate and then ignorance lasts for generations until one day your great great great grandchildren hate, and they don't even know why. That is a blind hatred. And that is the most dangerous hatred of all.

God:
Do you mean you and me have?
Me:
I like to get high, and so do you.
God:
Hmm, Ashton, I'm not sure if I'd like to get high and so that much. I like to collect gossip. I'm not sure if I would like to do it. What's it like?
Me:

Economics.

May everyone's thoughts, love, and blessings be with those affected by this economy. At the current moment, this is nearly all of us, so sometimes everyone needs a reminder to help their neighbor. We, as humans, sometimes become lost in our own self pity, and often forget about those who have it worse than us. These are hard times, desperate times, for everyone. People don't become greedy, or even stingy per-say. They get scared. Everyone is so scared. There is tension in the air, on the streets, in the home. Families are torn apart and relationships tested.

The homelessness rate has skyrocketed. Banks now own more property than Americans themselves do. Once well off families are now lining up at soup kitchens for their daily bread, hoping for tomorrow, and praying to whatever God they think will listen. These people are black, white, hispanic, asian, middle eastern and native american. They are of every religion, creed and nationality. They are gay and straight, conservative and liberal. But most of all, they are your neighbors. Your friends, your family, your co-workers, your fellow Americans.

Sometimes we humans tend to focus on what makes us different, instead of realizing the blatant truth, that we are all the same.

And that we have the greatest gift anyone could ever have, the ability to love.

So remember, as the days grow shorter, and the nights grow colder, there are those that will have no blanket tonight, and be grateful for what you have. Hold those you love close, and those you dislike closer. Because it is better to lend a helping hand... in this economy, you may need one tomorrow.
